What's the music like?
The music? Well, it sounds a lot like what you might hear on your favorite radio station, but with lyrics that direct our focus to God.
Our worship music has both a vertical and a horizontal dimension... Vertically, the lyrics to many of the songs we use in praise and worship are sung directly to God - this is our opportunity to express to Him our feelings of devotion and appreciation for Who He is and what He has done in our lives. Horizontally, the lyrics to other songs are sung to each other about God - to give encouragement and hope to those we worship with.
Typically, our worship band consists of piano and keyboards, bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, drums, and even a violin. We don't sing from a book, but the lyrics are projected on a screen at the front of the worship center.
If you're worried that you won't know the songs, it's okay to watch and listen for awhile. Most of the songs are beautifully simple and easy to learn.
And what about those old songs and hymns you remember from the church you went to as a kid? Well, yeah, we still sing some of those, but usually in fresh, up-to-date arrangements that gives them new life and meaning.
We're pretty sure you're going to like the music you hear at New Hope...
